Olivia Orene (Dunn) Bielz

February 22, 1943 – November 22, 2018

Olivia passed away suddenly in her home at the age of 75 in Victor, Colorado, due to Hypertensive Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease.

Olivia was born February 22, 1943 at the Dunn Farm Homestead located just north of Greensburg Kansas.  She was the first child of four born to Alva W. Dunn and Irma Dorine (Lewis) Dunn.

Olivia’s primary education started at Pinewood (one-roomed) School House, in Florissant, Colorado. Moving back and forth from Greensburg to Cripple Creek during her childhood she attended both Greensburg and Cripple Creek-Victor high schools.  Olivia was highly involved in vocal and instrumental classes/clubs.  This launched her passion to keep music an active part of her life.

On August 10, 1960 Olivia married Marvin G. Bielz in a simple ceremony by Judge Tekavee in Victor, Colorado.  They made their home in Victor.

She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Victor, volunteered for Victor Celebrates the Arts, and the Victor Lowell Thomas Museum. She was also “voluntold” (by Connie) for a variety of other community events.

Olivia enjoyed staying touch with family and friends by attending/planning class reunions, “Lunch Bunch”, Bielz Family Parties and other community/social events.

Marvin shared with Olivia one of his favorite childhood memories with his family of having many picnics on the Shelf Road on the 4th of July.  Olivia thought of reviving the Bielz get-togethers by having a big party for “Mom/Grandma” Bielz’ 75th Birthday in October 1978. After that, the legend of the “Bielz Family Parties” started by celebrating birthdays per month. To date, the Bielz Family continues to have parties at least four times a year, with 40 to 80 in attendance.

Olivia was a faithful follower and servant of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  God blessed her with a beautiful voice and she was able to use this gift as a testimony of her faith.

Olivia received her first traffic violation ticket for careless driving in September 1963. She had to report the “fender bender” to the Victor Police Officer who happened to be her husband Marvin. She also had the leave the scene with the truck she was driving to report the accident which happened to be the police vehicle.  Back in the day, Police Officers had to provide their own personal vehicle while “on duty”.

Olivia enjoyed cooking and baking, everyone looked forward to her dish at the church potlucks and family parties.

Survived by her daughters Connie Dodrill of Florissant, Colorado, Annette (Tom) Proctor of Colorado Springs, Colorado, grandsons Joshua Hoepfner of Lone Tree, Colorado and Zachary Hoepfner of Castle Rock, Colorado, brother Victor Dunn of Battle Mountain, Nevada and sister Janis Dunn of Heston, Kansas.

In addition to her husband Marvin, Olivia was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Carolyn Roy.

Friday, November 30th, 2018: Viewing is from 10am – 12 pm at Mountain Memorial Funeral Home, Divide Colorado and Celebration of Life begins at 2p.m. located at the First Baptist Church of Victor.  Potluck reception to follow at the church.

Donations can be made in “Memory of Olivia Bielz” to the First Baptist Church of Victor.

Connie & Annette,
I was shocked and saddened when I learned of your mother's passing. The news brought tears to my eyes. Though I had not often seen your mom over the last many years, I will always remember her as a very kind, lively woman with a big heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. She was a grand lady.

Such mixed emotions hearing the passing of Aunt Olivia. I celebrate because I know she’s with our heavenly father and was greeted with love by Jesus. My mom would tell me that when we died we would be in heaven greeted by singing angels and all the love ones that died before us I truly believe that. I pray for God to comfort Connie, Annette, Aunt Jan, and Uncle Vic. Love Carla

Connie & Annette,

Whenever I came up to Victor and happened to run in to your mother, it felt a bit like ole home week. Olivia and Marvin were just some of those one expected to
always be there. Now they will both be missed. Today was hard for you. Bless you both.

Olivia was a major force in our CC-V lunch bunch. She leaves a hole there that will never be filled, and she will never be forgotten.

Connie and Annette: Your parents were solid citizens of Victor. I will miss seeing your mom when I go up for church. Her musical talent was enjoyed by so many in the community. God give you peace and comfort. Know you are not alone.
