Lorraine Jean Toney passed away peacefully at her home in Lake George, Colorado on March 13, 2024. Lorraine was a native of Colorado, born and raised in Denver. She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Minnie Ford and her six siblings (Ed, June, Gloria, Mary, Butch, and Charlie).
Lorraine spent her youth in the Elyria-Swansea area of Denver. She met Arthur “Ronnie” Toney when she was 13. Many years later, they were set up on a date by Lorraine’s mom, Minnie, while Ronnie was home on leave from the Marines. Ronnie chose not to re-enlist in the Marines so he could marry Lorraine. They were married, September 10, 1955.
Ronnie and Lorraine settled in Sheridan, Colorado and raised their four children: Sherry (Kevin) Wood, Pam (Rick) Lininger, Jimmy (Beth) Toney, and Jerry (Rebeka) Toney. Lorraine had various jobs and retired from Mountain Bell.
After retirement, Ronnie and Lorraine moved to Lake George. They were active members of the Lake George community. They were very involved with their church and the VFW. Ronnie and Lorraine delighted in spending the military holidays on Wilkerson Pass to raise money for the VFW. They were also involved with the Teller County Senior Coalition, and the community center. Lorraine was skilled in bead work. She entered and won awards for her bead work at county and state fairs. Lorraine’s beading creations are very coveted.
Lorraine is remembered for her ornery sense of humor. She also had a vibrant personality. Lorraine will be deeply missed by her husband of 68 years, Ronnie, their four children, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
