Online Obituaries
Mountain Memorial Funeral Home provides a free service of posting your loved one's obituary on this site. Family and friends can then post messages, remembrances, or photos on your loved one's obituary page. Our Obituary Form will help you write an obituary and instruct you on how to submit it to us.
Obituaries in Print
You can submit an obituary to a newspaper directly or the funeral home can do it for you. Email the obituary along with a photo and the date to run. The newspaper will email a proof of the obituary to approve along with the cost of running the obituary.

Flowers
As a remote mountain town, having flowers delivered can be challenging. That is why we have arranged for our local florist to take orders directly on this site. Click on the obituary page. Then click on the individual's obituary. At the top right there is a button "Flowers & Gifts", click on this and you will be able to select your flowers and write a message to accompany them. The florist will deliver your order to the funeral home or church as appropriate.

These markers can be ordered through Mountain Memorial Funeral Home.
Social Security
After the death certificate is completed, the funeral home informs Social Security of the individual's passing, by mailing a "Statement of Death by Funeral Director" SSA-721 form to the local SS office. This is the legal notification of death.
To receive benefits, you must apply to Social Security. You may do this by visiting any Social Security office or call to schedule an appointment. To speak to a SS representative call (800) 772-1213 weekdays between 7 am - 7 pm. At other times you may leave a message and you will be called back.
