Pikes Peak National Cemetery a new 374-acre Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) national cemetery is located in the southeast portion of Colorado Springs. The cemetery will serve the burial needs of more than 95,000 Veterans, their spouses and eligible family members for the next 100 years.

The initial phase of construction will develop approximately 65 acres and provide for approximately 13,300 gravesites, accommodating both casketed and cremated remains. In addition to gravesites, the cemetery will include an administration building, a maintenance building, a flag pole assembly area, a memorial walkway, committal shelters, and a public information center with electronic gravesite locator and restrooms. 

The cemetery was officially dedicated on May, 25 2018 and the first burials took place on November 1, 2018. Currently, they accept casketed and cremated remains for in-ground burial only. When the entire initial phase of construction is complete (estimated Spring of 2020), they will have additional burial options available to include columbarium niches.

Committal Ceremony

The ceremony and honor guard at Pikes Peak National Cemetery is scheduled by Mountain Memorial Funeral Home. The ceremony takes place in a covered outdoor committal shelter. There is a 20 minute time slot given for the service, which is utilized according to the family’s wishes. When arriving at the cemetery for a service, you will be met at the entrance and directed to a staging area, where attendees will line up in their vehicles. At the time of the service, they will be led to the committal area. There is permanent covered seating for approximately 20 people. After the service, the casket or urn will be taken into the care of the cemetery staff, and usually, buried the following day.

Office Hours: Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Closed federal holidays except Memorial Day.
