Terry Arnholt Obituary

Terry Jack Arnholt was born in Danville, IL on 23 April 1940 and graduated from Georgetown High School in 1958.  He attended William Jewel College on a football scholarship for a year and graduated from Olivet Nazarene College in 1962.  On 20 January 1962 he married his high school sweetheart Loretta Sue Silvestro.  He then taught junior science for a year in Zion IL before attending graduate school at Southern Illinois University receiving a Masters in Human Physiology.  While in graduate school Terry and Loretta started a family and ended up with three successful sons (college professor, fighter pilot, and medical doctor).

In 1965 he joined the Air Force where he served until 1985 (20 year career as a logistician).  While in the AF he served in Vietnam for a year and was stationed at many locations with the most rewarding being Spain for 5 years where his family lived on the local economy and formed a band of Christian friends.  He concluded his career as the officer in charge of the Air Force’s war time fuel reserves while earning a Doctor of Education (EdD) from the University of Southern California.  After serving his country for 20 years, he served his God for another 17 years at Bartlesville Wesleyan College from 1985 to 2002.  There he was chair of the Business Department for his entire tenure making a profound impact on young adult lives.

Terry continued his service to the Lord taking ground as a Gideon where he disseminated the Good News!  Terry was diagnosed with multiple myeloma back in 1984 and beat all odds with the blessing of his boss Jesus Christ becoming one of the longest living person with multiple myeloma. Part of Terry’s treatment was high altitude living in Terry and Loretta’s mountain chalet in Divide, CO.  Terry and Loretta turned a small cabin into a multigenerational respite for family and friends.  They hosted many visitors with a need for a reprieve and to be energized as well as many family events.  In 2008 Terry and Loretta retired to Green Valley, AZ but continued to visit CO frequently.  He took his final promotion on 30 April 2022 with his wife and three sons by his side and was ushered into heaven by angels.  “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful servants.”  Psalm 116:15.  As an athlete with a heart for God and a commitment to service he fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith.  The best gift he said he could receive from the ones he loved was to see us on the other side.  We are looking forward to seeing you on the other side.  He loved everyone!

He is survived by his wife Loretta (married for over 60 years) and their three sons and wives and children:  Alan and Susie - Alayna and Aria; Mark and Mary - Nolan, Payton, and Austin; Luke and Kim - Elijah, Noah and Ellianna.  Additionally he is survived by his two sisters (Vicki Powell and Jody Lemmerman) and two brothers (Mike McConnell and John Arnholt).  He was proceeded in death by his brother Gene McConnell.
