Shirley Louise Childs

Longtime Deckers and Westcreek, Colorado resident Shirley Louise Childs, 83, passed away March 4, 2020 while in the care of Pikes Peak Hospice. 

Shirley was born May 30, 1936 in Greeley, Colorado to Edwin Law and Marie (Graham) Law. She grew up in Frederick, Colorado with her siblings Dennis Law (deceased) and Phyllis Harrington.

She moved to the Deckers area in 1965 where she and her husband Chuck Childs (deceased) raised their children Frank Childs and Vicki (Childs) Harnish.  During her time "down on the river" she enjoyed horseback riding, hosting lots of family and friends for fishing and games, and traveling.

After the death of Chuck, she found her longtime companion Robert Henson (deceased). They enjoyed all of their time in the Deckers area with local friends and families.  They traveled to Texas in the winters where Shirley loved the beautiful flowers and dogwood trees. Upon Robert's death, she moved in with her son Frank Childs and his wife Janine where she enjoyed the last years of her life.

Shirley's greatest joy was having the house full of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren where they enjoyed listening to all of Shirley's amazing life stories.
Her precious daughter Vicki (William Harnish) preceded her in death in 2012.

She is survived by son Frank (Janine) Childs.  Grandchildren: Lisa (Joel) Griebenow; Stephanie (Zane) Way; Joshua (Becky) Harnish; Jacob Salber, and Chase Anderson.  Great Grandchildren: Matthew and Nathan Griebenow; Brayden and Ava Way; Elizabeth and Everett Harnish; Riley Fitzgerald-Salber and Amelia Salber; and Great Great Granddaughter Emberly Griebenow.  She is also survived by stepson Joseph Childs, numerous step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She will be laid to rest in the Westcreek Colorado Cemetery. There will be a celebration of life this coming summer with the date to be determined.
