Sharon Kay Pruitt, age 73, of Green Mountain Falls, Colorado, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. She died peacefully in her sleep at home.
Sharon was born on May 25, 1948, in McPherson, Kansas, the daughter of Lawrence James and Virginia (Brown) Raleigh. She had one brother, Greg. She graduated from Newton High School in Newton, Kansas, in 1966. She married William Thomas (Tom) Pruitt on February 1, 1985.
She had several jobs throughout her life, but the ones that meant the most to her involved taking care of children. She not only provided childcare in her home, but she loved to work at the nursery at her church where she would love on the little kids that were so dear to her heart.
She and Tom were members of Woodland Park Community Church in Woodland Park, Colorado. Sharon was known not only for her love of children, but also for being a prayer warrior who would be concerned for the needs of others and lift their needs up to the Lord. She would keep in touch over the years with children she took care of and taught in Sunday School.
A Bible verse that exemplifies her life is found in Matthew 19:14- But Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
Sharon is survived by her husband Tom of Green Mountain Falls, Colorado; her son Matthew of Wichita, Kansas; her mother Virginia Stutzman of Hesston, Kansas; her brother Greg (Carol) Raleigh of Hesston, Kansas; three nieces- Morgan (Luke) Simmering, Lauren (Kevin) Roulhac and Taylor (Landon) Unruh; and a nephew, Grant Raleigh.
She is also survived by three of the children (now adults) for whom she provided childcare for many years and whom she called her "grandchildren"- Olivia See, Steven Wolfe, and Emily Hermann. She also took care of Tina Carlson's sons, Eric, Aaron and Adam Wells. Sharon had a caring heart toward many friends including the ones she graduated with from high school. She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Raleigh in 1971.
A memorial service for Sharon will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., Mountain Daylight Time, at Woodland Park Community Church, 800 Valley View Drive, Woodland Park, Colorado 80863.
