Sharon Anne McClellion Cote, 78, of Divide, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2026, surrounded by love and welcomed into the arms of Jesus.
Sharon was born on July 5, 1947, in Montgomery, Alabama, to Thomas Holder McClellion and Mabel Louise Horton McClellion. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Mark David McClellion.
She is survived by the love of her life, Garry Cote, with whom she was just one month shy of celebrating 57 years of marriage. She also leaves behind her daughter, Michelle Hedges and her husband, Samuel, of Woodland Park, Colorado; her cherished grandchildren, Cody Hedges, and Samantha Hedges and her fiancé, Joshua Simpson, all of Colorado; her sister, Saundra Thiesing of Texas; her brothers, Stephen Wayne McClellion and his wife, Vickie, of California, and Michael “Mack” McClellion of Florida; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
After retiring from her career as an office manager in the medical field, Sharon left Boca Raton, Florida and made her home in the Highland Lakes community, where she lived for the past 26 years. During her time there, she joyfully served for several years as the neighborhood’s “Welcome Person,” warmly greeting new residents and helping them feel at home from the very beginning. She treasured the friendships she formed and found great happiness in being part of such a close-knit community. Sharon also loved line dancing, scrapbooking, and gathering with friends at the Community Building.
Her grandchildren lovingly described her as the “Best Nana.” She never missed an important moment — from dance recitals and sporting events to graduations. Though she will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in knowing she will be there in spirit, sharing in the joy of her granddaughter’s upcoming wedding.
A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held in June, with details to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to A Place Like Home Adult Day Program, P.O. Box 38625, Colorado Springs, CO 80905, or to Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care, 2550 Tenderfoot Hill Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80906.
