Ronald Joseph Svetich, age 67, was called to a permanent assignment in the glories of Heaven on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. Ronn lived a simple, but robust life. He embodied an improvement mindset and worked tirelessly to be better each day in all aspects of life: mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, and intellectually. He was an advocate for learning and personal growth and believed that there is always something new that can be learned no matter how old you are.
Ronn’s biggest passion in life was baseball. His love and talent for baseball took him to the Senior Little League World Series in 1968, drew him to sign with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1974, and led him to serve as the mental skills coach for the Colorado Rockies Baseball Organization for twelve seasons. Skilled at his trade, Ronn had such a gift for communication, always providing an ear and shoulder for others; subscribing to the notion that we were given two ears and one mouth for a reason, to be used proportionately. He served as a leader and mentor to many people over the years and left a lasting impression on his family, friends, and co-workers.
Along with his passion for baseball, Ronn loved to fish and spent many days at Spinney Mountain, Eleven Mile, Antero, and Skagway Reservoirs. He loved the fresh air, the smell of freshly mown grass, the earthy scent of pine, fresh tomatoes, working hard, and relaxing with a Rio Grande Restaurant margarita! Ronn was such a good human being and positively touched the lives of many along his journey. Always quick to smile or make a wisecrack, he loved to have fun and enjoy each day. This joy and positivity continued even after he lost the ability to communicate in the traditional sense. At DayBreak, an Adult Day Program, he was known for his jovial “Holy Moly” which everyone at Life Quality Homes also enjoyed, along with his laugh.
Ronn was born on March 16, 1953, in Gary, Indiana, to Stephen Richard Svetich and Diana Rose (Yelachich) Svetich both of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Karen Casey-Svetich, daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Nick Reinman, granddaughters Kylee Brooke and Addison Grace. Ronn is also survived by his sister, JoAnn (Svetich) Dunn (Pat), brothers Bob Svetich (Denise), and Ric Svetich (Donna), mother- and father-in-law Barbara and John (Russ) Casey, sister-in-law Laurie Casey, and nephews Jason Svetich (Andrea), Justin Svetich, Marc Dunn (Charlayne), Rick Dunn (Paula), Kevin Dunn, and six grand-nieces and -nephews.
