Rebecca Jane Smith

Rebecca Jane Smith (Becky) Smith, 64, passed away January 21, 2025, at her home located outside Canon City, Colorado, following a lengthy illness.

Rebecca Jane Fay was born May 11, 1960, to Ralph and Ruth (Grange) Fay in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was the fifth born of their six children. Becky spent her school years in Waterloo, Iowa, and Cripple Creek, Colorado. She graduated from Cripple Creek High School in 1978. Becky attended the University of Northern Colorado, where she met her future husband. On September 20, 1980, she and Karl Zachariah Smith were united in marriage. Together, they raised three sons: Samuel Zachariah Smith, Maxwell Alexander Smith, and Kacey Benjamin Smith.  Becky was a talented artist and created many beautiful pieces during her lifetime.  After Karl's retirement, they spent half of every year in Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point), Mexico, where Becky taught yoga, another one of her passions.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Ruth; one sister, Sue Ann Smith; her in-laws, Donald and Elizabeth Smith; and one brother-in-law, Kris Smith.

She is survived by her husband, Karl; her three sons, Sam, Max, and Kacey; and one granddaughter, Taylor Madison Smith.  Also surviving are three brothers, Craig (Susan) Fay, John (Shaun) Fay, and Dennis (Cathy) Fay; and one sister, Julie (Scott) Bowman; one brother-in-law, Kurt (Nicole) Smith; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and great nephews; and several cousins.

A viewing and short remembrance service will be held at Mountain Memorial Funeral Home (51 County Rd. 5, Divide, CO, 80814) on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M.  Burial will take place at Fourmile Cemetery (Teller 1, seven miles South of Florissant, CO, 80816) following the service.  

The family wishes to thank the doctors/staff at University Hospital in Denver and Sangre de Christo Community Center Hospice in Canon City for their care during Becky's illness.
