Odeal Ellen Hoobler

95 years young, Odeal Ellen Hoobler passed peacefully in Woodland Park, CO on June 14, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.  

Odeal was born in Detroit, MI and attended St. Leo’s Catholic School.  She had many friends, owing to her wonderful sense of humor and caring personality.  Upon graduation, she met and married Harvey Albert Hoobler, and they began their long and happy life together.  Soon after, they moved to Ypsilanti, MI and started their family.  Harvey and Odeal were blessed with five amazing children:  Sharon Ann, Patricia Marie, Dawn Carol, Harvey Brent, and Stephen Thomas; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.  

As their children grew and most left the nest (Stephen was a “later years” surprise and still lived at home with them), Odeal and Harvey found their lake front home on Bass Lake.  They had so much fun together, enjoying swimming, fishing, and many family visits.  They had a love for life and lived it to their fullest.  With the passing of years, Odeal and Harvey moved to South Lyon, MI.  They enjoyed their neighbors and many different activities.  The community held parties for the holidays and “just because", and Odeal loved dancing and singing.  Odeal and Harvey were active parishioners at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in South Lyon for many years. 

Services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in South Lyon on August 10, 2024 with Visitation starting at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m.  The church is located at 830 S. Lafayette St. in South Lyon, 48178. 

Friends and family are welcome to join us to celebrate Odeal, as she joins Harvey in Heaven.

Those we hold in our hearts never truly leave us. 

They live on in the kindness they showed, the comfort they shared, and the love they brought into our lives. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America in Odeal’s loving memory.
