Martha Lee (Wayland) Harris

Martha Lee Harris (nee Wayland) age 73 went to be with our Lord and Savior on June 28, 2020 after a lengthy illness.  

Martha was born September 22, 1946 in Colorado Springs to the late Alfred C. and Linnie E. Wayland.  Martha graduated Palmer High School, class of 1964.  Martha married H. Butch Roberts.  Her first son, Damon, was born in 1968, their second son, Brian was born in 1969.  She was extremely proud of her two sons, Damon L.. Harris (Ginger) and Brian K. Harris (Susan).  When that marriage dissolved Martha married Willie Harris, who accepted the boys as his own.  With her health failing Martha returned to her parents in Colorado Springs. Becoming estranged from Willie.  Both of her husbands are deceased. 

Martha is also survived by her nephew and caregiver, Damon Holliman, as well as many other nieces and nephews; great friends and neighbors and of course, Janet.

Martha was blessed with nine grandchildren; two great granddaughters and sadly a great grandson who preceded her.

Martha was known as "Mom", "Miss Martha", "Aunt Martha", or "Grandma" all made her happy.  As Martha would tell you, "Eating is my hobby."  She loved Robin and Juan's Omlettes Etc's chicken bacon ranch melt and Outback's Alice Springs chicken and their garlic shrimp.  Martha loved reading murder mysteries and had a large collection of Agatha Christie, James Patterson and Mary Higgins Clark books.  She loved the movies, "The Mummy" with Brendon Frasier, "Haunted Honeymoon" with Gene Wilder, "Private Eyes" with Don Knotts and Tim Conway.  Martha loved anything sparkly, wearing lots of bling everywhere she went, even to the hospital.

Martha loved life and held on for all she was worth.  Even the painful times made her appreciate the good even more.  Her strong will impressed every doctor she knew, and the list is VERY long. Martha will be interred at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs.  Special thanks to Stephen and Cora Tomsky at Mountain Memorial Funeral Home. 

Her memorial will take place at Hillside Gardens and Event Center, 1006 S. Institute, Colorado Springs on Sunday, July 12, 2020, from 6 - 9 pm.
