Marilea Estes Obituary

Marilea was born in Osborne, KS, the only child of Alph and Grace Copple. The family moved to Blue Rapids, Kansas when she was three. She very happily lived there with her parents and grandparents until she married.

In 1948 she married Ross Estes and they moved to Manhattan, Kansas where Ross was a student and she worked on campus at Kansas State University. Upon Ross’ graduation from K-State they moved to different towns and their daughter and son were born.

In 1965 they moved to Colorado Springs, living there until 1975 when they moved to Green Mountain Falls, 20 years, and Woodland Park, 20 years.

She was a secretary for School District 11 from 1967 to 1987.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, James and Mary Etta Montgomery, and her Tippy dog.

She is survived by her children Kate (Estes) Hodgdon and Kenn Estes; 3 grandchildren- Ben (Shanay) Hodgdon, Julie (Derek) Wilkins, and Adam (Anna) Estes; and 5 great-grandchildren- Alex and Emmett Hodgdon, Bronson and Everette Estes, and Hal Wilkins.
