Luke Hoogeboom Sr. Obituary

Luke Hoogeboom Sr., 82, of Lake George, CO passed from his earthly life to his eternal life in the early morning of Wednesday, February 10, 2021. Luke was born October 25, 1938 in Wieringerwaard, Frysland, Holland to Willem and Faye Hoogeboom.

After immigrating to the United States in 1952, his family settled in Eunice, New Mexico. Luke graduated from Eunice High School in 1957. Prior to his graduation he enlisted in the National Guard where he served for six years until 1962. He met the love of his life, Margo Ann Field, and the two were married on May 14, 1960.

Luke and Margo built a life together in Monument, CO where they had three sons, built a successful custom home building company, High Tree Construction, and were active in the community. Luke, along with High Tree Construction, became Sustaining Club Members of the YMCA of the Pikes Peak region in 1986 and 1987 respectively. As a homebuilder, Luke and his company were awarded the “Tri-Lakes Builder of the Year” award in 1984. Just a few years later he was awarded the Design & Construction Award of Excellence in 1989. Luke remained active in club basketball on his team Super Flow, along with his three sons, until the age 60! Additionally, in the early 1990’s Luke participated in the 4x100 Swim Relay as part of the Colorado Senior Games, helping his team to secure the gold medal!

All through his life, Luke was an avid Colorado sports team enthusiast, being sure to watch as many Denver Bronco and Denver Nuggets games as his TV channels would show.

Luke is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Margo Ann Hoogeboom nee Field, his three sons William Hoogeboom (Kathy), Luke Hoogeboom (Sheila), and John Hoogeboom; his brother Floyd Hoogeboom (Cathy), his sisters Marian Nall (Don) and Margie Curtis (Doug), and his sister-in-law Peggy Hoogeboom; his grandchildren Sabrina Kleinheitz (Daniel), Andrew Hoogeboom (Emily), Tallon Hoogeboom, Kali Hoffman (Sean), and Seth Hoogeboom; his great-grandchildren Baylie, Spencer, Belle, Ryder, and Thearron; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends…and of course Diesel the dog.

Luke is preceded in death by his parents Willem and Faye Hoogeboom and his brother Wijbe (Wybe) Hoogeboom.
