Linda Marie Hunt, 69 passed away peacefully in Colorado Springs, Colorado on May 27, 2023.
Born May 9, 1954, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Harvey Bryan Hunt, Jr and Geraldine (Logan) Hunt. She was one of three children.
Linda valued education and enjoyed learning. She was a graduate of Lord Beaverbrook High School (Calgary, Alberta). She would often take college courses based on her interests, even if they didn’t lead to a degree. In this spirit, she attended courses at Mount Royal University (Alberta), Cottey College (Missouri), Phillips University (Oklahoma), University of Tulsa (Oklahoma), Northern Oklahoma College (Enid), Northwestern Oklahoma State University (Alva), and University of Colorado (Colorado Springs), earning an Associate of Arts degree.
Linda was a gifted artist and her art will be cherished. Her preferred medium was watercolor, but she was also skilled in charcoal, colored pencil, and oil. Typically, she painted mountain landscapes and fall colors inspired by her hikes in Colorado. She was often found walking the quiet trails of the Florissant Fossil Beds, Mueller State Park, or Rampart Range. Her favorite time of year was the fall, for the bright fall colors.
She had one child and her first priority was always caring for him. She was a loving mother and proud of Casey’s accomplishments. She attended every one of his graduation ceremonies from grade school on.
She had a number of varied jobs over the years, most recently retiring as a custodian with the Woodland Park Middle School at the age of 68.
Linda was a compassionate soul and valued her many friendships. She was always passionate about caring for the underserved and helping those in need. She believed in God and the idea of reincarnation, specifically that acts of kindness carry on. She was independent, self-sufficient, and appreciated simplicity. She loved animals. She would always listen to a good ghost story. She would drink coffee at any time of the day. She loved to laugh, and her friends will remember her big smile.
She is survived by her son Casey L. Dolen, brother Barry Hunt, brother Bryan L. Hunt, nieces Claire and Collene Hunt, and grand-niece Rosie Hunt.
A private event will be held. At her request, her ashes will be spread at Mountain Memorial Wilderness Park and a plaque will be laid for those that wish to visit.
Donations can be made to the American Indian Education Fund in Linda’s name.
