Larry Unverzagt Obituary

Today we are here to celebrate the life and grieve the loss of Larry David Unverzagt. He passed at only 60 years old at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado; on June 8th 2021.  Larry was born May 22nd 1961, in Granite City, Illinois. He was the youngest son of Lorretta and Norman (Doc) Unverzagt.

Larry served 16 years in the United States Army in Desert Storm. He accomplished a lot while in the military, which include receiving a Bronze Star. He was also enrolled in Colorado Technical University pursuing a bachelor’s degree for Cyber Security. Larry was a man of honor and humor, with a passion to create and be more. Being a very strongheaded man he was never one short of stories that can make an entire room break into laughter. There are such precious times in his life that include him and his family in Germany, while others a little bit closer to home. Larry was driven to accomplish anything he set his mind too. He was very skilled in playing the Native American flute and produced his music so he could share his passion. Larry enjoyed fishing, shooting his guns, and bonding with his family and friends. He loved nothing more than sitting down next to his wife eating queso and chips, enjoying life and listening to records.

Larry will truly be missed and treasured by everyone who knew him. He had that kind of personality capable of making everyone he knew, even strangers, feel like the most special person in the world. There is not a person he knew who ever felt anything but loved and accepted by him. Larry was the kindest man and always had a place in his home for anyone who needed it. Not only was he kind and silly but Larry was very wise and always wanted to bestow his knowledge of life and hardships with others.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife Cassandra (Cassie), his two daughters Crystal (Felice) and Dana. Along with his two grandchildren Loretta (Katybug) and Cassandra (DawnieBear.) He is also survived by his older brother Dale and his partner in crime Leo. Larry was greeted by his mother Lorretta and father Norman, Sandy Hamm and his old pal Callie dog.

His services were held Saturday June 12th, 2021 at Mountain Memorial in Divide Colorado at 11 am. Larry’s officiant was Shenna Lee Belmore, his family and friends shared beautiful memories and expressed their love and gratitude for him.

The family wants to thank everyone who will be able to attend the service as well as Larry’s celebration of life at the families’ home. They want to extend their appreciation of anyone who has sent resources and funds through this tough time. This hardship has really urged everyone to remember that life is perfect and precious even within the chaos.
