Kenneth Lyle Hanson passed away on June 18th, 2024, at his home in Woodland Park Colorado at the age of 81.
Ken was born December 21st, 1942, in Fargo North Dakota but grew up in Minnesota. While growing up in Minnesota Ken developed a love for many sports especially hockey. After graduating from Washburn High School in Minneapolis he earned a scholarship to play hockey for Colorado College in Colorado Springs Colorado.
Following college Ken joined the Army. He spent 6 years in the Army, earning rank as 2nd lieutenant and being stationed in South Korea.
Once Ken’s military service ended, he returned to Minnesota to work but always hoped of returning to Colorado. Eventually he was offered a job opportunity that would take him back to Colorado Springs, Colorado. He would eventually open a successful advertising and marketing company called Hanson Marketing & Advertising. He owned and operated this company for 45 years up until his retirement.
It was in Colorado that he met the love of his life, Marcia. Together they made their home in Woodland Park Colorado and raised 4 children there. The family would grow and welcome 6 grandchildren over the years.
Eventually Ken and Marcia built their dream lake cabin on Rainy Lake in Northern Minnesota. They spent almost every summer there boating with friends, fishing for walleye and enjoying the wonders of the lake.
Ken is survived by his wife of 47 years Marcia, his 4 children Lori, Scott, Christina, Todd and 6 grandchildren: Peyton, Maya, Ayden, Caroline, Brynn, Tomi and his sister Cynthia.
Ken was always active in the community, coaching youth sports, raising funds for school bond issues and the El Pomar Sports Complex. Ken attended the Woodland Community Church.
He was loved immensely and will be greatly missed!
