Kay Atteberry, age 85, passed away on December 8, 2022 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Kay was born in Modesto, California on November 13, 1937 to Dr. Harry E. Kingman and Helen Kingman.
Kay received bachelor’s of science degree in education from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado and a master’s degree in education from University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado.
Kay taught and worked in numerous capacities for the Colorado Springs School District 11 from 1970-2008.
Living a glorious and fruitful life, Kay spent much of her time reading books, traveling, hiking, bird watching, playing card games, enjoying theater and cheering on the Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos.
Community connections – Yay Yay sisters, Kappa Delta, Member of St. George’s Anglican Church, a loyal volunteer at the Old Colorado City Historical Society and Museum, and docent at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo for 20+ years.
Kay Atteberry was known as a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her former husband Glen “Terry” Atteberry. Two children Sheryl (Doug) Decker and Glen (Michelle) Atteberry. Also surviving are three grandchildren Kaylynn (Brandon) Metzger, Meghan Atteberry and Sheridan Decker.
Kay Atteberry was preceded in death by parents Harry E. Kingman and Helen Atteberry and grandparents Harry Ellis Kingman and Edna Garbitt.
Services will be held Saturday, January 7th, 10:00 AM at the St. George’s Anglican Church, 217 East Pikes Peak, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903.
