Kathleen Larsen Obituary

Kathleen Therese (Drummond) Larsen passed away unexpectedly on July 6, 2020 in Cripple Creek, Colorado. Kathleen was born February 2, 1957 in Johnson City, Tennessee. She attended Santa Rita Highschool in Tucson, Arizona and the University of Texas in Austin. Kathleen has been a long term member of the Colorado Elks Association, her home lodge was Cripple Creek 316. She was the first female State President of the Colorado Elks. She served in many of the chairs and numerous committees. She was Officer of The Year, Past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler, and was a large contributor of the Elks National Foundation.

Kathleen was so many things to so many people. To us she was Mom, Momma, Gma, Babette, Myrtle, Ethel, the Queen of Groundhogia, Daughter, Sister, Wife, Elk, Best Friend, and certainly not opinionated. She was a Catholic, and a Morlic. She was a leader, and a force to reckon with. She was a big goof ball who never met a stranger.

You could really feel the love when she improved a song on the radio just for you, usually your name was replaced with butt face, or dorkis. She actually was in Up With People when she was 18 years old and had a very beautiful singing voice. She drove the pass like a maniac. She could burn through brakes and wear out a gas pedal faster than anyone.

She introduced Cassie as her evil step daughter and Cassie introduced her as her evil step mother. She put up with so many practical jokes from us kids but she wouldn't have had it any other way. She knew how to keep all us kids in line and sometimes Jim. This often started in her "one butt" kitchen with an amazing home-cooked meal. The kind of meal that tames a group of unruly and unpredictable hungry savages. You know what I'm talking about since everyone has had a home cooked Kathy meal.

Kathleen was your friend when you didn't realize that you needed one. You could always count on her for anything. She made you laugh and made you cry.

It comes and goes in waves. But its extremely hard not to remember the immense love that came from this one amazing woman. So many laughs and memories. Kathleen had charged her own trail and touched so many lives in our small community and across the state.

To say that we are sad, heartbroken, or devastated is not enough. There are not words for what we are feeling. We did not get enough time with her, and we are so thankful to have had her in our lives and thankful that we will one day see her again.

Kathleen is survived by her husband Jim Larsen. Her parents Kent and Patricia Drummond, her brother Mark Drummond, and her sisters Coleen Drummond and Christine Drummond. Her children Michelle Bland, Kevin Bland, Cassie Kash, Martin Larsen, and grandson Josh Blackwell. She is also survived by her best friend Sarah Schiller. She was preceded in death by her brother Richard Drummond.

Kathleen's memorial service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, July 25th, 2020 at the Cripple Creek Elks Lodge in Cripple Creek, Colorado.
