Judith Louise McMullen passed away on March 31, 2021. Judith was born on Dec. 12, 1925 in Grand Rapids Michigan to Dr. William F. Chadwick and N. Ethel (Manni) Chadwick of Grand Rapids and West Olive, Michigan.
Judith graduated from Creston High School of Grand Rapids in 1944. She graduated from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1948 with a B.S. degree. In 1952, Judih received her M.A. degree from the University of Michigan in elementary education and special education. She also attended the University of New Mexico. Judith taught in East Grand Rapids until 1955. She then taught elementary education with the US Air Force Dependant schools in Chaumont, France and Hahn Air Force Base, German in 1959.
She moved to Colorado Springs, CO. After raising her family Judith moved to Gallup, New Mexico, where she taught early elementary grades, special education and remedial reading.
Upon her retirement from the Gallup McKinley County Schools in 1990, Judith returned to Colorado Springs, where she made her home the past years.
Judith is survived by her son Thomas (Karen) of Idaho springs, CO; her daugher LuAnn Trzyna of Falcon, CO; grandson, Christopher McMullen of Idaho Springs and grandson Aron Trzyna of Silver City, NM.
Judith enjoyed teaching, drawing, the out-of-doors, traveling and camping in her RV with John and her little dogs.
Judith was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. William F. Chadwick, her sister Elizabeth Jean Start of Grand Rapids, MI, her brother, William C. Chadwick also of Grand Rapids; and John F. Buchanan, her loving companion for over 20 years.
Judith will be laid to rest this summer in Mountain Wilderness Memorial Park, Woodland Park, CO.
