Joseph “Mike” Michael Bingen Jr., age 54, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, September 13th, 2018 in Woodland Park, Colorado. He was born November, 14th, 1963, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Joseph “Joe” Michael Bingen Sr. and Sandra Jean Shelton. He was a graduate of Hinsdale Central High School (’81) and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology (’86). He was a proud member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He had over 25 years of experience as a professional commercial and residential architect in Illinois, Colorado, and Nevada. “Topaz Mike” enjoyed spending time with his daughters and friends, crystal hunting, snowboarding, skiing, drawing, mountain hiking, camping, gardening, skateboarding, dirt-biking, and living life fearlessly. He was a father, brother, son, nephew, cousin, colleague and dear friend to many. Anybody who met him would say he was a wonderful, resourceful, intelligent man with a quirky sense of humor.
He is survived by his daughters Amy and Shannon, their mother Jackie, his mother Sandra, his sister Kim, his godmother Liz, and many cousins and close friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Joe.
A funeral service for Mike will be at the Mountain Memorial Funeral Home, 51 County Road 5 Divide, CO 80814, on Monday, September 17th, 2018. Visitation begins at 6 pm and a funeral service will start at 7 pm.
