John Hall Obituary

John “Jack” Cleo Hall passed away at home in Woodland Park on October 23rd after battling dementia for several years.

He was born January 28th 1934 in Chanute Kansas and was raised by his grandparents after his mother died while he was still an infant. He grew up in their farm and attended a one-room schoolhouse until he was sent to Coffeyville Kansas to live with his aunt and uncle to attend high school. He excelled at track and football and continued to compete in junior college in Coffeyville after finishing high school.

He met his wife Coletta in high school and they got married in 1953 while both were still in school. After a honeymoon in Green Mountain Falls, they moved to Colorado Springs and started a family.

Jack received his AA degree in drafting in college and began working at Colorado Interstate Gas. After a few years he moved to Holly Sugar Corporation, where he finished his career in 1996.

Jack and Coletta moved to Woodland Park in 1980 due to their love of the mountains. Jack enjoyed fishing, backpacking, climbing 14ers and woodworking. He was involved with various activities at Our Lady of the Woods Church and in retirement engaged in several projects to help the needy.

One of his joys near the end of his life was to frequently eat breakfast at Woodland Park’s Grandmother’s and the Hungry Bear, where he would always order the same thing: blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs and bacon.

Jack was recently preceded in death by Coletta, his wife of 71 years, as well as their daughter Brenda, and his sister Donna. He is survived by his son Jon and wife Miki of Tacoma Washington and grandson Andre of St. Louis Missouri.

A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of the Woods Catholic Church in Woodland Park on November 16th at 10:00 AM.
