Jerry Petty Obituary

Jerry “Cino” Petty, a Vietnam War veteran and Marine, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 5th, 2025. Born on March 28, 1950, in Klamath Falls, OR, Cino grew up in Canby, Oregon, and Redding, California. He lived a life marked by service, determination, and passion.

A proud and deeply loved Marine, Cino served his country with honor in Vietnam, demonstrating courage and strength. He was known as a very knowledgeable individual and a strong survivor, approaching life with a stubborn determination and always learning from his experiences. After his military service, which he always looked back on with pride, Cino worked as a miner and a blackjack dealer. Cino found solace and joy in various hobbies and interests. Cino loved motorcycles, swords, and firearms. He was also a talented artist, expressing his inner world through painting and writing. Cino was also a gifted writer, crafting stories and poems that reflected his experiences and observations. In his later years, Cino found passion in his collections, including watches and knives.

Cino is survived by his son, Zach Merrick, married to Christina Merrick, his daughter Rhiannon Carahan, his grandchildren, his cousin Ricci Petty and family and his very loved dog Loki.

His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.

The funeral will be on Friday, November 14th, 2025, at Mountain Memorial Funeral Home, located at 51 County Road 5, Divide, CO 80814, with the service starting at 10 am, followed by a burial in Cripple Creek at Mount Pisgah, where military honors will be held.
