Janet Von Jenef Obituary

Janet E. Von Jenef, 92, of Woodland Park, CO passed away at home on January 3, 2020.

Janet was born April 16, 1927 in Chippewa Falls, WI to Marie (Frisk) and Oliver Olson.

Janet was a small town Wisconsin girl who moved to Chicago after high school. After working for a period in the aviation industry, she met her husband “Dan” Von Jenef and married 22 Sept. 1951. They enjoyed an affluent lifestyle for many years in suburban Chicago areas of Palatine and Barrington. This involved membership at the Inverness Golf Club and Chicago yacht Club, where her husband raced yachts on Lake Michigan. They primarily lived in Illinois, but in later years moved around a bit, finally re-settling in Arlington Heights. Ill.

Following Dan’s passing in 1990, Janet moved to Woodland Park to be near her daughters, Amy and Janet (now known as Jeanette), and her grandchildren.  Janet lived independently, although she was accompanied by a succession of little dogs as her companions.

She had a wry sense of humour and often spoke “without a filter”, but it added to her unique character. She was well known in her neighbourhood and her neighbours and friends looked out for her in her later years, as her children no longer resided in Colorado. Their support was greatly appreciated by Janet and her family.

Janet’s interests were golf, life drawing, sailing & caring for her dogs in later years.

Janet is preceded in death by her loving husband Henry D. Von Jenef, her beloved son,Titus E Von Jenef, her honoured parents, Marie and Oliver Olson; and her dear sisters Louise Gregory and Geraldine Govier and her special companion dogs Charlie, Terri & Fritzi.
