James Donald Distel

 James (Jim) Distel, 84, passed away at home on January 23rd, 2025 after a long illness. He and his wife raised their family in Woodland Park, moving here in 1970.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife Patricia, brother Thomas, and parents Frank and Melba. He is survived by his son Don, daughter Donna (KC), grandson Frank (Claire) and great-grandson Simon. He also leaves behind brothers Robert, Richard (LaDonn), Joseph (Patricia), Harold, and William (Melinda), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Colorado native, Jim graduated from Arvada High School, then worked at Martin Marieta for several years. He was a Reservist with the Wyoming Air National Guard as well as a dairy farmer after that. Once he and his family moved to Woodland Park, he worked as a truck driver and has owned several small businesses over the years. He was involved in the local Boy Scout troop when his son was a Scout. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

There will be a viewing and Rosary at Mountain Memorial Funeral Home, located at 51 County Road 5, Divide, CO 80814 on Wednesday, February 5th at 7 PM.

Thursday, February 6th there will be a viewing at Our Lady of the Woods Catholic Church beginning at 10:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM. Immediately following the Mass, there will be a short service for Jim's Internment at the Woodland Park Cemetery. The pallbearers are Richard Distel, Thomas Distel, Steven Distel, Robert Distel, James Distel, Shelly Hilterman, and Renee Preston.
