Jamelyn Mass Obituary

Jamelyn “Jamie” Mass, 54, was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

Jamelyn, known lovingly as Jamie, passed away on December 21, 2025, at home in Cripple Creek, Colorado.

Jamie was married to her husband, Joseph Mass, in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1989. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and devotion, raising four children who were the pride of Jamie’s heart.

Jamie is survived by her four children and grandchildren:
Her eldest daughter, Briana Black, who lives in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and her two sons, Landyn and Taytum.
Her son Tyler, and his wife Samantha, who live in Red Oak, Iowa, along with their five children, Gracelyn, Jeremiah, Amelia, Benjamin, and Myles.
Her son Payton, who lives in Manhattan Beach, California, who is single and shared a deep love for his two French Bulldogs, Baby and Oliver, who brought her great joy.
Her youngest daughter, Abigail Mass, who lives in Cripple Creek, Colorado with her partner, Kenneth Crofford.

Jamie was the beloved daughter of Wilbur and Kathy (Vanderloo) Smith, who preceded her in death in 2022 and 2021 respectively.

In her younger years, Jamie earned her GED and pursued her calling in nursing, attending nursing school in Council Bluffs, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska. She became a Registered Nurse, earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Nursing was not just her profession — it was her calling. In her final years, Jamie served as the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) at Forest Ridge Senior Living in Woodland Park, Colorado, a role she held for two years, where she loved her residents deeply and led with compassion, dedication, and genuine care.

Jamie’s greatest passions were her family and her grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure. She also had a deep love for animals, especially the three dogs she shared with her husband — Piper, Jessie, and Monkey — who were a constant source of comfort, joy, and companionship in her life. Jamie found peace and purpose in her creativity, spending countless hours in her craft room making gnomes, car freshies, and other handmade creations. More recently, she became deeply involved in selling jewelry, finding excitement and connection through that work.

Jamie was also a writer and an entrepreneur at heart. She had begun writing a book and became active on social media platforms, sharing her journey and encouraging others. Her book focused on being over the age of 50 and courageously pursuing digital marketing through social media, a reflection of her belief that it is never too late to grow, learn, and begin again.

Above all, Jamie will be remembered for her gentle presence, her creativity, her devotion to those she loved, and the way she made people feel seen and cared for. To her husband, Joseph, she was home — her presence, her scent, and the way his heart lifted when she entered a room will be missed beyond words.

ILYAJD — I’ll Love You Always,
Joseph David
