Harvey Hiatt passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, April 28th, 2024, at his home in Divide, Colorado.
One of eleven siblings born to Iris and Merle Hiatt, Harvey was born and raised in Holyoke and the northeastern plains of Colorado where his family operated a farm and ranch. In 1961, Harvey left to serve four years at Bethel, the headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses in New York, New York where he was assigned to carpentry and building projects. In 1965, Harvey married Sally Frontera. Harvey served as a special pioneer, spreading God’s word in New York and in Vermont, also spending time in South Dakota. Sally and Harvey eventually moved back to Colorado where they raised four children and Harvey continued working as a builder.
Harvey is survived by his spouse, Susan (Steiner) Hiatt married on May 2nd, 2009. Susan and Harvey shared their love for God’s word, a sense of humor and spending time enjoying the Colorado outdoors together for 15 years. Also survived by his children, Eden (Rick, deceased) Reaksecker, Amber (Daniel) Swanson, Gianna (Brian) Rutherford, Justin (Cindy) Hiatt; grandchildren, Clancy, Devon, Brooke, Marek, and Thaddeus “Thads”; two sisters, Eleanor (Jim) Wilson and Betty Kucera.
Harvey never met a stranger. Harvey was a compassionate spouse, father, and friend. He was willing to listen as much as he enjoyed talking and engaging in light-hearted conversation. Harvey will be remembered for his kindness, his love for Jehovah, and fearlessly spreading God’s word.
A memorial service will be held on at 1:30 pm on June 1st, 2024, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Woodland Park, Colorado.
