Gregory Reid Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gregory Reid of Florissant, Colorado.

Born on April 16, 1960 Greg Reid, known as Greger to family and close friends, passed away on July 1, 2025, at the age of 65.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Greg’s life was defined by devotion to family, hard work, quiet resilience, and fierce love.

Born in Dormont, Pennsylvania, Greg was the cherished son of the late Russell D. and JoAnn Reid. He graduated from Keystone Oaks High School and furthered his studies at CCAC in Pittsburgh before embarking on a life of craftsmanship and adventure.

In his early years, Greg headed to Oklahoma with a few close friends where he became a journeyman plumber — work that not only defined his skill and spirit, but also led him to the love of his life, Diane Miracle. Their bond formed quickly and deeply. He embraced Diane’s two children, Skyla and Travis, as his own. Together, they built a life full of laughter, lessons, and unforgettable memories.

Greg and Diane later made their home in the mountains. In Florissant, Colorado, where Greg put his plumbing and carpentry talents to work, literally building the home they shared. His dream was to someday build a lakeside retreat in Missouri for retirement. But in the midst of planning that future, Greg was faced with a diagnosis of glioblastoma. Told he had months to live, Greg chose to truly live. With Diane, Skyla, J, and grandson Levi, and the families’ dogs he embarked on a three-month road trip to Alaska, fulfilling a lifelong dream. That journey became a gift of time, joy, and connection.  Even in life’s hardest chapters, adventure and beauty persist.

Greg defied expectations, living 20 powerful months beyond his diagnosis. With every sunrise, he showed his family the true meaning of courage and grit. What they’ve come to call “REID STRONG.”

He is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years, Diane Miracle-Reid; his children, Skyla (J) Vanderheiden and Travis Miracle; and two grandchildren he adored more than anything in the world, Marie and Levi Miracle. His steadfast love also endures in his siblings: Dennis (Karen) Reid of Pleasant Hills, PA, Joe Reid of Pittsburgh, PA, Shari (Kurt) Stimmel of Pittsburgh, PA.

David (Anita) Reid of Jupiter, FL, Kathy (late Dan) Renz of Hickory, PA, and Laurie (John) Rizzo of Hampton Twp., PA. and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Greg’s body will be laid to rest with his dog Max’s ashes. He will be beside his brother-in-law Don, nephew Christopher, and his beloved mother-in-law Donna at the Florissant Pioneer Cemetery, Florissant, CO.

Greg passed at home and at his side until the very end were his wife, his family, and his loyal dog, Spuds.

Gifted with both skillful hands and a generous heart, Greg lived with purpose, unwavering in his love and support for others. He left a lasting imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He will be missed beyond measure and remembered with endless love.

Greg was also a man of quiet compassion, especially for animals in need. He and Diane rescued most of their dogs from the local shelters. Most recent, some of the adopted dogs Max, Lucky, Louie and Spuds—each one becoming a treasured member of their family.

In honor of Greg’s love for his dogs and the joy they brought him, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to the Teller County Regional Animal Shelter, 308 Weaverville Road, Divide, CO 80814. Phone: 719-686-7707. Website:www.tcrascolorado.org.
