Gary Alan Ledford, 79, of Florissant, Colorado, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.  Born on December 30, 1946 in San Diego, CA to Loren Oscar and Madge Francis (Condon) Ledford. Gary lived a remarkable life defined by service, leadership, faith and devotion to family & community.  Many referred to him as a dreamer.

In 1966 Gary joined the United States  Army and went to Nike Missile Training at Fort Belvoir, VA. He then got an appointment to Officer Candidate School where he graduated in 1967 and was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant with a degree in Civil Engineering. He joined the 326 Engineers and 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, VA. Gary served in Vietnam 1968 thru 1970 and was promoted to Captain while still in Vietnam. Assigned to Fort Carson , Colorado where he requested relief from active duty (4yrs 3mo).

Gary started his building & construction business in Colorado Springs, moved to California in 1974 where his construction projects included Edwards Theaters, Shark  Island Yacht Club, shopping centers & industrial buildings.  He master planned 1,400 acres  for a Senior Retirement Community in Apple Vallely, California with a regional shopping, 18-hole golf course and built over 1,100 homes.

In 2004 Gary and his wife Wini retired to Colorado, bought and renovated the historic Cripple Creek High School and turned it into a boutique hotel that they operated as a B & B. Enterprises they developed together in Colorado include Carr Manor, The Imperial Hotel, Midland Depot Restaurant, Red Rooster Bar, Gold Bar Theater, Bobby B’s Ice Cream and The Antique Emporium.

Gary believed in the values of legacy, heritage, fiduciary responsibility and most important faith.  He approached both business and family life with integrity, wisdom and steadfast commitment to doing what was right. He believed in building not only communities, but opportunities for future generations, and be instilled in family the importance of hard work, perseverance, generosity, and honoring one’s word.

He was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter Megan Mahon, his parents Loren & Madge Ledford, and his sister, Cheryl Dinsmore.

Gary is survived by his wife, Wini Jess Ledford, his children, Kelly (John) Mahon, Jeanne Brosseau and Robert (Delaine). His stepchildren, Stephanie (Ed) Hagan and Pam DeAngelis, 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren who will continue to carry forward his legacy of strength, leadership, faith & Love.

Gary Alan Ledford will be remembered as a proud veteran, accomplished engineer and developer, dedicated community leader, loving husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather.  His enduring legacy of heritage, gratitude, integrity and faith will continue to inspire all who knew an loved him.

A Celebration of his life will be held at The Community Fellowship of Christians Church, 39633 Hwy 24, Lake George, CO on June 19th, 2026, at 11am.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Aspen Mine, Community of Caring Foundation, Inc in Cripple Creek, Colorado in honor of Gary’s memory.
