Frances Maria Sinel

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our daughter, sister, aunt, and fur baby mom Frances Maria Sinel of Woodland Park, Colorado. She passed peacefully on March 13, 2023, which was her 60th birthday. Maria loved that she was born on the 13th and now this day will forever belong to her.

Maria experienced a fabulous and glorious life that ended much too soon.

She was a lawyer for many years before retiring from private practice. Being an attorney was perfect for her. She had an incredible gift for gab and handily won many cases.

She was an excellent cook and loved to entertain, evidenced by the many awesome parties she hosted over the years.

No one will forget Maria’s thrifty side. Having inherited the shopping gene, she was never one to pass up a bargain. We believe that Maria came by this trait honestly and have no doubt that it was passed to her courtesy of our lovely Mom.

Maria had a wicked sense of humor. We have many fond memories - and incriminating photos, of course - showing her goofy, happy, carefree side. She made family moments memorable and we’re sure she’s spreading that joy in her new home above the clouds.

Maria had a Ford Bronco named Bucky that predeceased her. She and Bucky were known (perhaps infamous?) for their mountain driving. So much so that three deer, two boulders, and an unknown amount of concrete pillars saw them as a good target. There was a dull moment when the two of them were together.

Without question, Maria’s fur babies were her life. Her previous babies included her black cat, Lord Albert, her Rottweilers Max and Trixie, Lily and Ellie and many more who crossed the bridge before her. Any animal who was in her care, we knew was living their best life.

Reid and Maisie, who were with her till the end, are in good hands with Mom and Daddy, who are already spoiling them rotten.

Maria will be missed tremendously. She leaves behind her parents, Julia and Donald Sinel; sisters Teresa (Gordon), Donna (Will), Rena, and Patricia (Bob); her brothers-in-law Gordon and Bob; her nephews Adam, Jake, Joey and Mike; her nieces Margaret and Rachael; and her grand nieces and nephews Callie, Stella, Hunter, Reagan, Ryan, and baby Julia. We’ll see you down the road apiece, Mergs! ️

The memorial service will be a small informal ceremony on Friday, March 17, 2023at 11:00am at the Mount Memorial Chapel.  We encourage you to leave a message for Maria on this site, by clicking the tribute link at the top of the page.
