EUGENE JAMES MOAN JR.

September 13, 1951 – January 5, 2021

Gene Moan passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 with his family at the age of 69.  He was born in New York on September 13, 1951 to Eugene and Theresa Moan.

Gene grew up on Long Island, NY where he graduated from Seton Hall HS and subsequently Dowling college. He served in the Navy briefly after college. He met his wife, Kathleen G. Moan, at Gaslight Palace where he worked at the time and they were married in April of 1975, on Long Island.  Gene had the opportunity to work and travel overseas with his family over the years. He was an avid outdoorsman and volunteered his time to the Teller County Search and Rescue for years after settling in Colorado. Gene retired as a Project Manager for HP in 2018.

Gene will be lovingly remembered by his children: Christina Moan (Theo) and Jason Moan (Ashley); beloved grandchildren: Alexis, Tessa, Sofia, Juliette, and Scarlett and; siblings: Debbie Graham (Jeff), Donna DeVita (Frank), Scott Moan (LeAnn), and Patty Amico (Steve); as well as numerous family members, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Gene is proceeded in death by his wife, Kathy Moan, and nephew, Ryan DeVita.

Gene was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend who will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. While he was a man of few words, his supportive presence proved foundational to those around him as he observed all with a quiet smile.

Gene was cremated, per his final wishes. No service is planned, but a Celebration of Life party for him and Kathy will be scheduled at a future date.
