Edwin Loren Adams

Edwin Loren Adams, Ed passed away November 21, 2025 in Colorado Springs, CO.  He was 89 years old.

Ed was born the son of John Loren Adams and Virginia Kalmbach Adams on August 14, 1936 in Denver, Colorado. 

He attended school in Denver and graduated from East High School. He went on to graduate from the University of Colorado with a degree in Electrical Engineering.  While at CU he met Evelyn Evans and the two were married on January 31, 1958. They moved to Colorado Springs where Ed worked for Clifton Precision.

He then worked for Kaman Sciences doing research and development for nuclear projects. 

In 1980 he opened his own manufacturing business, ADCOM Transformers.  They built custom transformers used in underground wells, medical equipment and traffic transformers for California Traffic Systems. 

Ed also played string bass with the Colorado Springs  Symphony and the Colorado Springs Opera.

In 1992 they purchased a 200 acre homestead ranch near Lake George, Colorado. Here they learned to grow and put up hay and raise 10 donkeys.

Ed was a charter member of Vintage Motor Car Club of America, Pikes Peak Chapter, The Porsche Club, Pikes Peak Chapter, Union Pacific Steam Club, Arkansas Valley Flywheelers, Home Church of The Rockies, and a 17 year volunteer with the Lake George Fire Protection District.

Ed restored many antique cars and tractors. He built 12 model engines from raw castings using his large lathe and milling machine. His shop was his most favorite place to be. He and Evelyn participated in many engine and model shows, antique tractor pulls, auto tours and swap meets.

Ed is survived by his wife, Evelyn Lorene, daughter Terri Slingerland and husband, Jim Slingerland, son Steven Adams and wife, Julie, granddaughter, Jessica Hughes, sister, Alice Adams, niece, Lena and nephew, Nils.

Ed’s Celebration of Life will be held on December 9, 2025 at Fire Station One, 8951 County Rd 90, Lake George, Colorado at 11:00 a.m.  The family invites you join them for lunch following the service.
