Edward “Ed” Zupancic, 85, of Florissant CO passed away February 5, 2024. The oldest of five children, Ed was born in Cleveland OH in 1938.
His lifetime of public service began in the US Army where he served from 1956-1959, including being stationed in Thule Greenland. Meeting the love of his life, Jeanette, while in the Army, he settled in Detroit MI. After the Army, Ed spent 31 years rising through the ranks of the Detroit Police Department, retiring as an Inspector (Captain). Moving to Florissant CO in 1997, he was instrumental in forming the Teller County Sheriff’s Posse. Ed continued his service as a volunteer firefighter, Grange Master, county coroner and was an active member of Our Lady of the Woods Catholic Church where he was a 4th degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.
Ed is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jeanette (Glanz), children Debra Voss, John (Lynn) Zupancic, Joseph (Jane) Zupancic, DeAnne (Mark) Zamora, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, his brother William Zupancic, Baltimore MD and his sister Patricia (Zupancic) Nolan, Euclid OH.
