Edward J. Englehart passed away on March 17, 2024 from complications from a long term illness. He is survived by his wife Sue, his daughter Bonnie Matura, and his son Jacob Englehart.
Jerry was employed by the State of New Mexico for 27 years until he retired.
Living close to the Rocky Mountains in New Mexico and vacationing in the San Juan Mountains in Colorado, Jerry and his family loved hiking and camping and four wheeling over the high mountain roads in both states. His family will cherish those many fond memories.
Both Jerry and Sue enjoyed cross country skiing in Silverton, Colorado for winter excursions.
They also volunteered for New Mexico Search and Rescue that was managed by the New Mexico State Police for 9 years. Jerry became a field coordinator in New Mexico Search and Rescue during that time.
Jerry also volunteered for the Valencia County Sheriff's Reserve.
In 2007 Jerry and Sue retired in Cripple Creek, Colorado.
Jerry's memorial service will be held on June 20, 2024. It will be a grave side ceremony at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. It will be led by Pastor Dennis Peck of the Cripple Creek Baptist Church located on 137 N. 1st Street. Guests may meet at the church before 1:45 to be led to the cemetery and burial site if needed.
