Delila Darlene Halstead - Darlene (as she preferred to be called) passed away in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the age of 75. Darlene was born in 1947 in Cripple Creek, Colorado to Mary Lee and James Robinson. Darlene graduated from Cripple Creek/Victor High School in 1966 and was married to Mike Hern from 1966 until 1974, living in Germany for a year during Mike’s military service. After returning to Cripple Creek, she had two children, Stacey and Shannon. She then moved to Arizona to work in the mining industry and married her second husband, Ed Halstead. She later returned to her home state and retired from ComCor, Inc. of Colorado Springs in 2016. She loved cooking, gardening and nature.
Darlene is survived by her spouse, Ed Halstead of Highlandtown, OH; two daughters, Stacey McMullen and her husband Don McMullen of Bell Canyon CA; Shannon Hern and her partner Troy Magers of Colorado Springs; mother Mary Lee Sanders of Colorado Springs; brother James "Jim" Robinson and his wife Carol Robinson of Victor, CO; nieces Jodi Robinson of Cripple Creek; Diana Miller and her husband James Miller of Pueblo, CO; brother in law Michael Cothrun of Tucson AZ; nephew Seth Cothrun and his wife Harper Cothrun; niece Jacinda Cothrun of Phoenix AZ; nephew Bryan Cothrun of Tucson,AZ; step grandchildren Boe Hern and his wife Brianna Hern of Huntington, NY; Dustin Hendren of Parker, CO.; Hudson Hern Castle Rock, CO.; and Kayli Hern of Castle Rock; and her beloved cat Manny of Colorado Springs.
Darlene was preceded in death by her sister Mary Theresa Cothrun (2010); her father, James Oliver Robinson (1948); her grandparents Florence Fay (2003) Clarence Fay (1970); and her stepfather, Franklin “Bud” Sanders (2008).
A celebration of Life will be held Sunday June 25, 2023, 12:00 PM at the Cripple Creek Elks Club, Cripple Creek Colorado. In Lieu of flowers the family requests that if you would like to honor Darlene to plant something green, flowers, a shrub, or tree, anything would be appropriate and appreciated.
