Debra Houston Obituary

Debbi Houston passed away on July 29th, 2024 in Colorado Springs, Colorado after a long illness and a sudden, unexpected medical condition.

Debbi was born on March 27th, 1953 in Gary, Indiana to Chester Kemper and Lily Wampler Kemper. Debbi's father was a minister, she grew up in many places in the US with her brother Ronald Dean and sister Belinda Joy (BJ). Debbi graduated from Branson High School in 1971. She then attended several colleges and received her BA of Science at the University of West Florida. Debbi became a USAF Officer in 1974 and was honorably discharged in 1980 after starting a family with her husband, James Arthur Houston. The two met in England and transferred to Texas where they were blessed with their 4 children. They relocated to Colorado in 1992 and Debbi began her career at the CCV Goldmine. After nearly 30 years, she retired. After the passing of her husband, Debbi moved to the small town of Victor, Colorado.

Debbi was the most giving, loving and apparently bossy older sister ever. She was the most incredible mother, always there for anyone whenever they needed something, taking care of everyone around her until the very end.She lived for her 12 grandchildren, helping to raise many of them and always welcoming them to her home with open arms. She is already so dearly missed.

Debbi is survived by her children: Sara, Rachel, Benjamin (her favorite), and Rebekah; and her grandchildren: Noah, Zachary, Hannah, Matthew, Shiloh, Jacob, Maryah, Ella, Lily, Maddox, James and Benjamin. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Jim.

There will be a small memorial service held on Friday August 30th at 2pm at Mountain Memorial Funeral Home located at 51 County Rd 5, Divide, Colorado, 80814.
