It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Belfiore, who passed away in the home he built in Divide, Colorado with his wife Joyce by his side. He was 78 years old, and he is at peace now. David Michael Belfiore ("Sparky", "Dear old Dad", "Davy Boy") was born February 6th, 1946,and passed September 19th, 2024.
He was born in Reading, England on February 6th, 1946 to parents Louis Belfiore and Irene Cox. His parents met at a USO dance while both were in the military, she was Royal Air Force, and he was Army Air Cor. They came over to the United States and settled in West Orange, New Jersey in July of 1946, when he was only 6 months old. This is where he spent his childhood with his brothers Louie and Bobby, and sister Bonnie.
He would go on to graduate from West Orange Mountain High School in 1964, Go RAMS! He then attended electrical school to become a licensed journeyman electrical contractor, eventually becoming a master electrician, and started his own business in 1968, at the young age of 22 years old.
It was in 1966 that he met Joan Caruso while working an electrician job at NJ Bell phone company in Dover NJ. They built a house in Lake Hopatcong, NJ in 1968. They were married on October 26th, 1969. They had 2 daughters, Jennifer in 1970, and Stefanie in 1973. They would adventure all the way to Colorado in 1978, and built a house in Divide, Colorado in 1979, which he still owns to this day.
He went on to meet Joyce Warren in 1983, who he was married to for 41 years. They met through mutual friends Marcia and Smitty. They all went to a bar called Thunder and Buttons together, where Smitty had on very bright white shoes that they kept giving him a hard time about, he got pretty mad at them, so they left together and went to the Silver Tongue Devil in Green Mountain Falls, and have been together ever since. They were married on August 27, 1983.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Joyce Belfiore; daughter Jennifer Koback (husband Kevin, daughter Brooke); daughter Stefanie Belfiore (daughter Monica, granddaughters Kahalani and Ailani); sister Bonita Adams (daughter Gina, husband Eric, son Brian, wife Patty); and brother Louis Belfiore II(wife Jean, daughter Andrea, son Louis III). He was preceded in death by his mother and father Irene and Louis Belfiore, and brother Robert Belfiore.
David was known for being an avid skier (loved his double black diamonds), loved to hunt, one of the best electricians out there, and a huge lover of music (best record collection ever). He was a workaholic, had very strong work ethic, loved to laugh, very quick witted and hilarious, and threw the best parties around! He was also one of the most caring people you ever met, would do anything for his family and friends, and was not afraid to cry often (he cried over commercials haha). He was a husband, father, son, brother, friend, and the best grandfather out there! He will always be known to his daughters as "The Boss, The Chief, and The King!"
From one of his all time favorite musicians Billy Joel, "We all end in the ocean, we all start in the streams, we're all carried along by the river of dreams." Rest easy David, and enjoy those black diamonds up there! You will be dearly missed forever!
