David Hoover Obituary

David Paul Hoover, security professional and avid gamer, passed away on September 7, 2020 at age 37. Born the fourth son in a military family, David completed elementary and middle school in Woodland Park, Colorado, the family’s longest residence in a single community. David held a love for Pikes Peak and his time working at The Donut Mill.

Always a big presence, David played football in High School in Sedona, Arizona and at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. David had a passion for Japanese language and culture, learning the language, studying at Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan for a year and practicing traditional Japanese archery. He was deeply engaged in the NAU Japanese club throughout his time in Flagstaff.

In 2014, David moved to Seattle seeking new opportunity, David got his start as a security guard and quickly began building a reputation as a conscientious and professional person, able to engage with everyone and be relied upon in any situation. 

An avid gamer all his life, he developed broad and deep friendships in online games communities, took time to help train new players and advise others on building computer systems. 

At 6’5 and huge in stature, David was a gentle giant. Big hearted in every way. David is survived by his parents, Alan and Lauri, and four siblings.

Memorial service for David will be held on September 16, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain Memorial Funeral Home in Divide, Colorado followed by burial at Mountain Wilderness Memorial Park in Woodland Park, Colorado.
