Cherie Rambo Obituary

Cherie Ann Rambo, age 57, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at her home in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Cherie was born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 24th, 1967, to Robert and Patricia Durante. She grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana, with her brother Robert and graduated from Southwood High School in May 1985. From a previous marriage, Cherie had the opportunity to see the world and welcomed her daughters, Heather and Kristin, into the world in 1986 and 1991, raising them to outgrow her in everything except her heart. Continuing her dedication to providing for her family, she earned an associate degree from the University of Florida in November 2001, which kickstarted her lifelong career as a dental assistant, a job only fitting since there was never a moment where she was not smiling. Cherie passed on her smile by assisting 1,000s of patients during her service, primarily at Pine Creek Dental, a testament to the number of lives Cherie positively impacted. Her luminous personality was contagious no matter where she was, leading to her finding her soulmate, Roy Rambo, while at work. They married on May 25th, 2007, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, expanding her family with him and two stepchildren, Alec and Avery Rambo. There was nothing Cherie cherished more than her family and friends. At the center of her life, the past decade, was being a grandmother to Haylie and Charlotte. Mimi’s (Cherie’s) house became the pillar of the Miller and Rambo family, where she resided until her passing.

Cherie’s love for her friends and family drove everything she did. Kristin remembers every moment Mimi spent with her and her daughters; she never missed a band concert or a holiday and has pictures from every moment to carry on those memories. Heather remembers her inconspicuous, rambunctious side with times of “following the speed limit” in Cherie’s Camaro, all the fun adventures out at the ranch in Utah, and her love for shopping with their several trips to the goodwill bins. Cherie endured many things in her life but always displayed compassion and kindness to those involved. Roy remembers testing this endurance when he sang to her, but all she returned was nothing but love, a testament to her loving things people around her considered flaws. She was the glue to her family and the Pine Creek Dental office, leaving behind a legacy that will persist and continue to spread the joy she bestowed.

Those left to cherish her memory is her husband of 17 years, Roy; two children, Heather (Daniel) Voss of Rush Valley, UT; Kristin (Chris) Miller of Colorado Springs, CO; two grandchildren, Haylie and Charlotte of Colorado Springs, CO; brother, Robert (Stacey) Durante of Shreveport, LA; half sister Alisa (Michael) Schutza of Benton, LA; nephew Dakotah Durante of Shreveport, LA, and stepchildren Alec and Avery Rambo of Colorado Springs, CO.

Cherie is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Patricia Durante.
