Charles William Sweeney Sr.

Charles “Chuck” William Sweeney Sr died at age 81 in the arms of his loving wife in their home in Colorado Springs, Colorado on December 7, 2021. Charles was born to the late Charles Daniel and Mary Elizabeth (Clark) Sweeney on June 14, 1940. He had one sister Mary Ann (Sweeney) Calaman.

He married the late Dianne (Tyrrell) Sweeney and had five children. He later married Sheila (Chase) Sweeney who had three children of her own. Charles and Sheila have one child in common. 

Charles grew up in Oswego, New York and retired to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2010. He was a Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion and Ancient Order of Hibernians. Charles and Sheila are avid travelers and are proud grandparents. 

Charles is survived by his wife Sheila (Chase) Sweeney, his children Kelly Sue and George (Sweeney) LaPage, Colleen (Sweeney) Avery, Kathleen Sweeney, Charles Jr and Shannon Sweeney, Russell and Genya Hockey, Roger and Dawn Detlor, Stephanie Hannock, Christine and James (Sweeney) Ligoretti and Gerald and Maureen (Sweeney) Johnson and his grandchildren Stacey Bleck, Melinda LaPage, George LaPage Jr, Serena Encarnacaos, Daniel LaPage, Darin Sweeney, David Sweeney, Nicole Corey, Amanda Hofmann, Timothy Avery, Aleigha Avery, Quynn Sweeney, Cole Sweeney, Nelisha Hillman, Kayla Hockey, DJ Barnes, Joshua Barnes, AnnMarie Trask, AnnMarie Durham, Michelle Hannock, Taylor Rosalin, Makayla Sweeney, Maryssa Sweeney, and Cj Parker. He has several great-grandchildren and one nephew, Keith “KC” Calaman. He was preceeded in death by his parents Charles and Mary Sweeney, his sister Mary Ann Calaman, and his grandson Richard Hockey.
