Carl Fredrick Marquardt Jr.
September 2, 1943 ~ December 11, 2023 (age 80) 80 Years Old
Carl Fredrick Marquardt Jr. passed in the early morning hours of Monday, Dec 11, 2023
in his home in Woodland Park with his children and wife near him. He was lovingly known as
“Pop Pop” to his grandsons and many others. Carl was 80 years old. He suffered a stroke late
Friday as a side effect to a brain tumor he had long been battling.
Carl was born in Meriden, CT on September 2, 1943 to Carl Fredrick Marquardt and
Mildred Langevin Marquardt. He was preceded in death by his two sisters Denise Carroll and
Bonnie Maggio. He married Evelene Ingrid Erickson on October 15, 1966. They celebrated
their 57th wedding anniversary this past year!
Serving in the navy for six years including Naval reserves was one of his proudest
accomplishments outside of his family. He was active in the Veteran Community of the Colorado
Springs area. Carl was a hard worker. He worked for several companies including International
Silver, Times Wire, Pepsico, Anderson News and Prologic. He retired at the young age of 76.
Carpentry, decking, and furniture work kept him busy as hobbies for many years as well. He was
strong in his faith, served as a Deacon at several churches, and even served as a
groundskeeper at Harmony Ridge in Milton, FL. Carl’s sense of humor along with his work ethic
was one of his strongest qualities. If you needed a laugh, he was there for you!
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Evelene, as well as his three children Eric
Marquardt along with Eric’s wife Christi and their sons Gunnar and Lars of Cascade, CO; Brian
Marquardt of Silver Hill, AL; and Dawn Herrington and her husband Terry of Gulf Breeze, FL.
His favorite things in life were prime rib, coffee, being around his family, and attending his
grandsons’ sporting events, robotics competitions, and ceremonies. He always gave freely of
his time to help others anytime anywhere- unless it was around his 6:45 evening snack time!
Services will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 2 pm at Mountain View United

family would also like to invite you to a Reception afterwards at the church as well. Donations in the
