It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Stanley Wonciar on December 2nd, 2024, at the age of 63, in Woodland Park, CO.
Born on February 23rd, 1961 to Dorline and Edward Wonciar in Japan, as part of an Air Force family, Brian lived a life filled with adventure, music and love. Growing up in El Paso, Texas, he formed lifelong friendships, found his love for the trumpet, was part of a motorcycle club and made countless memories with his sisters and brother. He was a proud Irvine Rocket Alumni, graduating class of 1979.
He fell in love with Manitou Springs and moved to Colorado in 1989 after deciding this area would always be his home. He enjoyed different career paths over the years to include working as a salesman for an ultra-glider parts company, obtaining licenses as an insurance agent with Progressive Insurance, becoming many people’s favorite bartender and cook at the Ancient Mariner, working as a budtender and most recently finding his niche in event security with Argus Event Staffing for large concerts and sporting events. He married his wife, Allison, on May 17th, 2017 and they have enjoyed traveling, making Woodland Park their home, sharing their love of music and attending over 500 concerts and sporting events together.
He enjoyed the outdoors and would spend his free time hiking, summiting Pikes Peak often, camping, fishing and finding new places to explore. He loved to support his favorite hockey team, the Colorado Avs, was an avid reader and attended as many Grateful Dead concerts as he could.
He is survived by his wife, Allison Ring; two children, Jennifer Berreth and Eleanor Wonciar (Allan); four grandchildren, Charles Berreth, Kallista Martinez, Bella Martinez and Tristan Berreth; one grand dog, Taco; three siblings, Roxanne Varela, Dave Wonciar and Rachel Wonciar; niece, Virginia Proffitt (Shane); and great nieces, Madeline, Kaytlyn and Erica Proffitt.
He is predeceased by his parents, Dorline and, retired Master Sergeant, Edward Wonciar, and will be greeted with open arms at the station for them to join and guide him on his next journey.
His service will be held on Sunday, December 15th and burial on Monday, December 16th. Please contact Allison Ring, Eleanor Wonciar or Rachel Wonciar for the time and address.
