Obituary

Beverly Jopek, of Woodland Park, CO, passed away of natural causes on 6/30/23.

Beverly ‘Bev’ was born on December 10, 1937, to Earl and Florence (Cole) Schutler, in Fredonia, NY, and raised by her uncle, Carl Schutler, and aunt, Alice Schutler. After graduating high school, she chose to stay in her hometown she adored, and she went on to study education at State University of New York (SUNY) Fredonia.

Beverly married her long time husband, Henry ‘Hank’ Jopek on May 26, 1977. They started their life together living in Florida, with an eventual move west, to call Colorado home. Together they loved visiting the many beautiful locations that Colorado has to offer. She found fulfillment in her faith, and exercised it as a member of the Catholic Daughters at Our Lady of the Woods parish. She was also proud of her years of volunteer work for the church, and the camaraderie shared with her fellow parishioners.

Her hobbies included sewing, crafts, and jigsaw puzzles, but anyone that knew her, knew football and shopping were her true passions. Come every fall, Beverly would be found watching every football game she could, especially games of her beloved Buffalo Bills. Chants of ‘Let’s Go Buffalo’ were something shared all the way to her last stage of life. She cheered along as though she was in the stadium with the rest of the fans. When there was no football to watch, she would spend her time shopping. While she did more looking than buying, she never tired of walking the shopping malls.

Beverly was predeceased by her husband Henry Jopek, parents Earl Schutler and Florence (Cole) Schutler, her uncle Carl Schutler, and aunt Alice Schutler. She is survived by her children Brian Maslach and Robert Maslach and daughter-in-laws Tanya and Christy.

A funeral mass service will be held at Our Lady of the Woods Parish (116 S. West St., Woodland Park) on July 11th, at 11:00.
