The Ward Family of Cripple Creek, Colorado announces the passing of beloved Mother, Wife, Aunt, Grand Mother, and Great Grand Mother, Betty Sue Ward on February 14th, 2021. She was 80 years old. She was a military spouse, Fire Department volunteer, and Grand Marshall, who settled in Cripple Creek with her husband, Leslie Ward, who preceded her in death.
Betty was born on September 7th, 1940 in Asco, West Virginia, the daughter of the late William G. Brooks and Mary Bell Brooks. She is survived by her sisters Carol Cannelas, Alice Moore, and Judy Toler; brothers Jimmy Jo and Tommy Brooks; children Sharon Twombly, Terri Verfurth, Ron Ward, Des Damonna Richter, Allen Ward, and Kenneth Ward. She is also survived by 12 Grand-children and 15 Great Grand-Children, and will be sorely missed.
Memorial services will be held at the Rocky Mountain Chapel, February 26th, 2021, with viewing and visitation at 10:00 a.m., funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Mount Pisgah Cemetery, Cripple Creek, Colorado. Pall bearers are Sons Ronald Ward, Allen Ward, Nephew Albert Snare, and Nephew-in-law Martin Lays.
The family asks friends to proceed to the Elks Club, 375 Bennet Ave, for food and celebration after graveside services.
