Anita Tobar Obituary

Anita M. “Dolly” Tobar, 80, of Florissant, Colorado, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, after battling many health challenges over recent years.  She passed peacefully at Memorial Central Hospital in Colorado Springs.

Anita was born on October 1, 1942, to parents Irene Mary (Lum) and Reyes M. Alvarez in Chicago, Illinois.  She attended high school at St. Mary’s of Perpetual Help and graduated in 1960.  Professionally, Anita worked as a bookkeeper and office manager in car dealerships and health care, most recently at the former Cripple Creek Care Center.

Anita was a craftswoman at heart.  She enjoyed giving presents that she had made herself.  Her many ‘projects’ included knitting, crocheting, needlepoint and cross-stitch, and painting ceramics.

Anita is survived by her children, Nancy M. Reed of Galesburg, IL, Lynn M. Tiani (Bob) of Estero, FL, and John P. King (Jennifer) of Bartlett, IL.  She is also survived by five siblings, her brother Reyes ‘Ray’ Alvarez and sisters Bernie Medley, Linda Meteisis, Lorrie Reed, and Paula Alvarez.  In addition to a large extended family, Anita is survived by close friends Susan and Mike Amiot of Teller County, and her beloved cat Norman.

Anita is predeceased by her husband, Efrem Tobar, her parents, Reyes and Irene Alvarez, and her beloved dog Storm.

Heartfelt thanks to the Teller County Senior Coalition staff and drivers, and the many doctors, nurses, and staff in Woodland Park and Colorado Springs who cared for Anita.

No service is planned per Anita’s wishes.  In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the Teller County Senior Coalition.  https://tellerseniorcoalition.org/
