Jim was solid.
He never talked to hear his own voice so when he said something people listened.
Wasn’t too tall but plenty powerful - a man’s man, built his own forge when he was shoeing horses.
Loved and looked after his family always.
Though he’ll be missed he will be remembered!

Jim was like my second father. I cherished his wisdom, guidance, and approval. His smile was warm and always made me feel right at home. It is my honor to have known such a fine man. It is my life's duty to love and care for his daughter, the way that he had always hoped for and to raise his granddaughter in a way that he would be proud. I will never forget him and will always seek his approval. Take care Jim!

Jim, it was a pleasure to have had our paths cross. You will be truly missed by family and friends. The lives you have touched along the way are richer for knowing you. I know, I was one of those lives. John.

I am very sorry to learn that James has passed. He will be dearly missed. I hope a passage at John 5:28, 29 brings comfort to all who are grieving his passing. May we each look ahead to seeing our loved ones like James on a beautiful Paradise earth.

We are blessed and honored to have had Jim in our lives.  His gentle spirit, great smile, and sense of humor always made us glad to be with him.  Birthday celebrations, holidays, and just getting together were special because Jim was there.  Jim, your loyalty and integrity were so apparent. You looked at things in life with the focus to fix a problem if one existed.

The imprint of your life and smile will continually live in our hearts.

A letter to Jim

Dear Jim,

Hey my friend, what’s up? I was just reminiscing about some of the ‘old days’. Gads, how did we ever make it this far? We had some amazing times! Walking the creeks of Mill Valley, staring at the girls in our classroom so long that we thought they would fall madly in love with us, riding our bikes down hills so steep that we were sure they would go on forever, laughing at Dean at 3:00 in the morning thinking that he might fall asleep and into that flatbed press where we inserted newspapers for twelve hour shifts for sixteen bucks and then spending it all on a weekend date with our girlfriends. Lazing on the banks of Cascade Dam in the summer until someone yelled ‘cops!’, and we all fled into the surrounding hills. Walking to the ‘depot’ and getting onto the bus to Edna Maguire for our two years of ‘middle school’. Walking the two miles every day to Tam High and then trying to hitch a ride back to town and getting a cup of coffee at Pat & Joes. We had some great times ol’ friend. Damn! I’m going to miss you.

Your friend,

Dear, sweet Jimmy. Many years I've known you and Claudia, about 50 now. We shared many great times over a game of monopoly, time with your horses, French press coffee in your back yard, and all our dogs, Pup, Tanapa, Taya and Tanapa's baby, Ali.  The day Josie was born you called to say you couldn't come to my BBQ because you guys had your little girl!  I'm so glad I have pictures of us all when we were young! I'll miss you.  Sweet sleep, dear friend. Love you, Joni

Dearest Jimmy

How much you are loved and missed!!!  Those that were fortunate to meet, know and shared your life are truly blessed.

You are still the heartbeat of my soul.Your kindness, courage and faithfulness were the center of every moment of your precious life.

The world was a better place with you in it.  How much you are missed here.  Be free of pain and worry and fly knowing we LOVE YOU.

To my best friend, husband, father of our beautiful baby girl, grandfather of our precious granddaughter, and center of my universe........Claudia Pauloo

Joyce Johnson gave this poem to Claudia in honor of Jim's memory.

After Glow

I'd like the memory of me
to be a happy one,
I'd like to leave an afterglow
of smiles when life is done.

I'd like to leave an echo
whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
and bright and sunny days.

I'd like the tears of those who grieve,
to dry before the sun
Of happy memories that I leave
When life is done.

Jim has always been a joy to work and converse with. I continue to cherish both his wisdom and humor. His ability to brighten a person's day was always inspiring, as well as his determination to solve any problem. I will always appreciate the small bits of wisdom and memories he shared.

Jim is a great man! He was Underrated at times but always five stars in my book. He was polite, caring and sensitive. Every single time I had an dark cloud over my head, he New the right things to say to ensure me it would be brighter day! His smile could brighten the darkest auditorium and his laughter was contagious. A very spiritual man, great husband, loving father and grandpa! So to you Pauloo my friend or brother from another mother. I would like to say farewell my friends and my God hold your hand! REST IN HEAVEN!

It was an honor to know Jim, if even for a short time. He was generous, humorous, and deeply kind. One thing that stood out to all of us was the profound love between him and Claudia.

You two have inspired us to esteem the "good things" in life: faith, hope, and love. Our deepest condolences go out to you and we are here to help in any way you need.

I was blessed to meet Jim and Claudia over a year ago.  Immediately, I noticed Jim's gentleness and humility.  He had a subtle sense of humor that would surprise me when I least expected it.  He unselfishly offered help whenever asked and had an attitude of graciousness.  I had known him for a short time but could see that he was a true, steadfast human being grounded in love, kindness, and joy.

You are free at last, Jim.  With love and friendship, Jen.
