Robert Garcia, 70, of Colorado Springs, passed away on Friday, March 15 after a valiant battle with cancer. Robert was born on June 8, 1948 in El Paso, Texas to Paz Garcia Lopez. After a childhood of itinerate field work, he studied accounting at San Jose State. Following 39 years at Lockheed Martin in California and Colorado, Robert was fondly known as the “finance guy.” He was also particularly proud to be a founder and the President of the Lockheed Hispanic Network. After his retirement, Robert continued his passion for accounting in private practice, and was also co-owner of Between Friends Consignment.

Robert’s passions included fishing and camping in his beloved Colorado, his dogs, road trips and a good Excel spreadsheet.

Robert is survived by wife Margaret (Hanke), his children Robert Jr (Carolyn), Carol (Lloyd) Cabida, Paul, and Gloria, grandchildren Jeremy, Tim (Keana), Alex, Samantha and Joey, great-grandchildren Jayce, Mason and Myles, mother-in-law Mary Hanke, sisters-in-law Karen (Sean Hagen), and Lisa, and nephews Kyle, Trevor and TJ. He was preceded in death by his mother, sister Alicia Mena, grandson David Ryan, and granddaughter Selena Rose.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 19 from 6-8 pm with a service on Wednesday, March 20 at 3pm, both at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs. Interment will take place at a later date.
