Joseph “Mike” Michael Bingen Jr., age 54, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, September 13th, 2018 in Woodland Park, Colorado. He was born November, 14th, 1963, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Joseph “Joe” Michael Bingen Sr. and Sandra Jean Shelton. He was a graduate of Hinsdale Central High School (’81) and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology (’86). He was a proud member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He had over 25 years of experience as a professional commercial and residential architect in Illinois, Colorado, and Nevada. “Topaz Mike” enjoyed spending time with his daughters and friends, crystal hunting, snowboarding, skiing, drawing, mountain hiking, camping, gardening, skateboarding, dirt-biking, and living life fearlessly. He was a father, brother, son, nephew, cousin, colleague and dear friend to many. Anybody who met him would say he was a wonderful, resourceful, intelligent man with a quirky sense of humor.

He is survived by his daughters Amy and Shannon, their mother Jackie, his mother Sandra, his sister Kim, his godmother Liz, and many cousins and close friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Joe.

We are very saddened to hear of the untimely death of Michael. Lots of fond memories of his youth including Boy Scouts. He was always very adventuresome with a twinkle in his eye. Rest In Peace.

Mike was mischievous, crafty, enthusiastic, fearless, funny and loyal.
He always had a smile on, either amused or planning something.
He never did anything halfway. He was my fraternity brother and my friend.
My only issue with Mike was when he was our House Steward.
