Zoe Ann Crist Roberts, age 88, passed away peacefully at her home in Colorado Springs, CO on Thursday, March 8, 2018.

Zoe Ann was born on July 27, 1929 in Clymer, NY to Roy Warner and Gertrude Shaw Crist.  She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings Clifford Warner (Red) Crist, Wade Franklin Crist, Kathryn Aroline (Pat) Crist Pierce, Paul Dewey Crist and Carol Nanci Crist Cady.

Her passion was childhood education and, after graduating from the State University of New York Teacher's College at Fredonia, NY in 1950, she went on to an illustrious career as a teacher, eventually earning her Masters Degree and becoming an elementary school principle.  She retired in 1993 after receiving numerous awards and acclamations for her work.  She touched so many young lives as well as those of her colleagues during her many years as an educator and leader.

On April 16, 1976, in Tampa, Florida, she married the love of her life, Ralph Lamar Roberts, who passed away in 1994.  She spent the majority of her adult life in central Florida and moved to southern Colorado in 2003 to be closer to family.

She was always an avid organizer and list-maker.  She attended the Methodist church  and gave of her time and talents as a church volunteer for many years. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, reading and calligraphy and she was a member of the Ute Pass Social Club and the Red Hat Society while living in Woodland Park, Colorado from 2003 to 2014.  She loved making people laugh with her witty jokes and stories.

The last few years of her life, she enjoyed living at Liberty Heights in Colorado Springs and was involved in the many activities offered there.  She especially enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, Sudoku, coloring books and Bingo.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Britta and David Newcomer, Lynne and Lee Reilly and Julie and Marshall Dougherty, her grandchildren Susie and Todd Mannor, Stephanie and Bill Ratner, Leigh Ann and Aaron Catoe, Krysta Carter and Kathleen Dougherty as well as her beloved great grandchildren Cameron, Spencer, Sienna, Skylar, Benjamin, Owen, Ethan, Freddie II, Dylan and Lucas and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Zoe Ann's extended family....the staff, residents and caregivers at Liberty Heights, especially Jill and Danielle, for making her last years of her life so very meaningful and full of laughter and love.

A Celebration of Life will be held privately by the family.  In lieu of flowers, a donation in Zoe Ann's memory can be made to the Association for Childhood Education International (https://www.acei.org/), whose mission statement is to promote innovative solutions to education challenges and inspire action that creates positive, sustainable futures for children and youth worldwide.

"Everyone is here because he or she has a place to fill in the big jigsaw puzzle."
