Ray Cravens passed away at the age of seventy-one at his home on Bear Trap Ranch in Teller County, Colorado.  He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on November 28, 1946.


Ray served two tours in the Vietnam War as a Sky Soldier with the 173rd Airborne. When he came home, he earned a degree in psychology from Southeast Missouri State University.  He originally went to work at the Farmington State Hospital’ and later for Anglo Gold where he worked for the Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company.


He served as president of Farmington Jaycees and was a member of VFW, DAV, Elks, and American Legion.


He had a great love for Colorado and especially Bear Trap Ranch.


Ray is preceded in death by his mother, Katherine (Sitze) Cravens, father, Ray S. Cravens; two younger sisters, Beverly and Diane, and a younger brother Michael.  He is survived by two sons, Michael Cravens of Tempe, Arizona, and David Cravens of Florissant, Colorado; and two grandchildren, Fielding and Nora Cravens of Tempe, Arizona.


The family requests no flowers, instead in Ray's honor a donation to the American Legion.
